My Story

My song, "Hello from Home", is my message to troops overseas, separated from their loved ones. My motivation in writing this song began on September 11, 2001.

I am a NYC singer/songwriter and a survivor of the WTC disaster. I worked on the 52nd Floor of 2WTC. The company I work for is Guy Carpenter, subsidiary to Marsh, Inc. Thankfully, I never made it to work on 9/11 because I overslept by 10 minutes that morning. I found out about the first plane from my mother's worried phone call. I turned on the TV and with surreal disbelief tried to make sense of what I was seeing. I decided to stay at home until "things calmed down". Little did I know what horrible events lay ahead. 700 of my co-workers are alive today, but almost 300 others perished on that awful day.

In my heart though, I am truly a singer/songwriter and I pursue my music career on nights and weekends. I wrote a song about September 11th called "I Will Remember" and recently felt moved to write for our troops.

We civilians get to go about our daily lives, worrying about our sometimes small problems while striving for better lives based on one sole reason - because the men and women of all five branches of the US military are fighting to preserve our freedoms on all levels. I don't want them to think they are forgotten or ever truly alone.

My sincerest wish is for this song to reach our troops and their loved ones somehow, and I'm hoping you can help connect the support and love in this song with those who need to hear it most. Please feel free to contact me directly in this regard. Thank you in advance for your help in getting this song heard!

Kindest regards,
Carrie FitzGibbon
